BioFuel Stumbling Block in US Tax Code.

General News
AltEnergy.org has published an insightful article about Biomass and Biodiesel Fuel usage. It has some interesting information about how US Tax Code could be holding back the further adoption of biofuel as a viable alternative.

"Tree and grass plantations show considerable promise in supplying a biomassed-based energy source, but the commercial use of plantation-grown fuels for power generation in the US has been stifled by an IRS tax code that denies a tax credit for electricity produced from scrap wood and agricultural waste or from standing timber planted before 1992. One European company, Bical, helped by Europe's aggressive renewable energy policy, is flourishing by promoting and planting Miscanthus, a tall grass that is also a short rotation crop that can be grown almost anywhere."

I was wondering if anyone had any insight on this subject?. Please comment if you do.
